According to the overall deployment of standardization for electric vehicle charging facilities in China, coordinated and supported by the National Standards Committee, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Energy Administration, and led by the National Automobile Standards Committee, the Automotive Research Center, the Electricity Enterprise Federation, and the Electrical Science Research Institute jointly drafted the "Connection Devices for Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging Part 1: General Requirements" and "Connection Devices for Electric Vehicle Conductive Charging Part 2: AC Charging Interface" Three national standards for "Connection devices for conductive charging of electric vehicles - Part 3: DC charging interface"; Organized by the National Energy Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Electricity Enterprise Federation, and the Automotive Research Center jointly drafted the national standard "Communication Protocol between Off board Conductive Charging Machines and Battery Management Systems for Electric Vehicles". These four standards were approved and released on December 22, 2011 as "National Standard Announcement of the People's Republic of China No. 21 of 2011", and were implemented from March 1, 2012 [1-2].
On May 12, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized the formulation of three mandatory national standards (hereinafter referred to as the "Three Strong Standards"), namely GB 18384-2020 "Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicles", GB 38032-2020 "Safety Requirements for Electric Bus", and GB 38031-2020 "Safety Requirements for Power Batteries for Electric Vehicles", which were approved and released by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Administration, and will be implemented from January 1, 2021
